You will read elsewhere that the initial Congregational cause at Tabernacl proved within 10 years to be too small. And with obstacles in their way in finding suitable land, a new cause was established in lower Treorchy that would become 'Hermon'.

Will land issues finally settled, Tabernacl's new home, which they named 'Bethania', was opened in 1877. The cost of this temple was ₤4,700. A quite staggering sum for this time.
And whilst 'Synagog' continued to be used as a Sunday School that was also proving to be too small which resulted in a second Sunday School named 'Ramah' built in upper Treorchy.
By 1987 Bethania is no longer shown in denominational records. They were even sharing the services of the minister of Hermon in their later years. This magnificent building was subsequently demolished and replaced by a block of flats named 'Ty Bethania'. Yet I do wonder whether any of the residents have any knowledge about the origin of the name.
