Soar(1889)

In or around 1889 a dispute at Blaenycwm chapel, the actual facts not, as typically happens, being disclosed, resulted in almost 100 members leaving the church.

These people initially returned to the 'Mother' church of Blaenycwm viz. Libanus, Treherbert but subsequently returned to Tynewydd to form a new cause.
The site of the chapel then built was at the other extremety of Tynewydd which, itself, avoided any conflict or bad feeling from their former home.
For its first 20 years Soar's membership was reasonable. In fact, on average, higher than the initial number. Yet by 1915 it was hardly above and by 1930, possibly by the general factors affecting The Rhondda, was down to only 48. The chapel ceased to exist as Baptist in 1933 and would later be acquired by an Apolstolic movement.
The site is presently occupied by 'Llys Soar'. So, atleast, its name survives.
