Bethel(1870)

English Baptist, Dunraven Street, Tonypandy

Denominational records show the formation of this cause as 1870. However this is in contradiction to the MGCS which does report that an attempt was made at that time but it did not bear fruit.

It would be a ferther five years until the second attempt was successful. Initial meetings were held in private houses and the long-room of the White Hart Hotel. And then they rented 'Capel Bach' which was the original home of Jerusalem. Although extended several times, this small chapel was subsequently demolished and a new chapel built at a cost of ₤3,500.
    When I photographed the chapel in 2009/10 it did appear to be still holding services. That may well not have been the case as the church does not appear in the 2011 Baptist Union Directory.
    The building does still stand to this day although its pesent use is unknown to me at the time of writing this.
