William Morris had only been minister at Noddfa, Treorchy for a year when he set his sights on denominational expansion in Pentre since there were some his his members resident in this area and quite a long walk to Treorchy.

Its first building was of wooden construction. A gift by one of its congregation. The main building, at a total cost of ₤2,400, was opened the year before the church's recognition as an independant cause.
As with most of its contempories, Moriah's membership declined over the years with only 10 remaining at its closure in 1987 who then joined Hebon, Ton-Pentre.
The 2009 photograph indicates commercial occupation which I believe, if not the same buisness, persisted beyond this date. However, I recently noticed that the window above the front door has been engraved as 'Moriah House' which suggests that the building has been adapted for residential use.
