 Following on from Pentre, General Booth aranged for Kate Shepherd to preach in Porth. And her appearance there hada similar reaction to that of Pentre.

The source document states that the initial meetings were held in the Old Cymer Chapel although I am sure that I read somewhere, and hence my comment, that the original Salem Baptist Chapel was also used.
Again, in the same year as Pentre, in 1887 the Porth barracks were built.
I have found no information as to when the Army ceased in Porth. But their citadel has survived with a fine restoration for residential use.
