Salvation Army (1884) Salvation Army, Pleasant Hill, FerndaleBuilt: 1884
It would be a ferther five years after Porth that the Army 'opened fire' in The Rhondda Fach in Ferndale. Initial meetings were in the open air until a church hall was rented. They also worshipped in a shop. Image © Copyright Glamorgan Archives - Reference: MGCS/CS/54.077
It appears that they built their barracks also in the same year. The seating capacity appears to have been a more modest 600 hence my reservation about the quoted figures for Pentre.
Once again, I have no information as to when the Army disbanded in Ferndale. The building was subsequently used as an Army Cadet Hall.
