Hermon(1877)Welsh Baptist, Llewelyn Street, PontygwaithBuilt: 1881 [Sittings: 650]
Hermon was a branch cause of Salem, Porth and that is understandable if members resident in this area were travelling a long distance for worship. The branch was formed in 1862 and met at various locations until a church was formed some 15 years later. Image © Copyright Glamorgan Archives - Reference: MGCS/CS/54.065
Hermon, itself, would become the 'Mother' church to both English and Welsh causes at Tylorstown.
The chapel closed in 1967 and unless the church met elsewhere the later figures quoted in the Baptist Handbook are incorrect.
The building was subsequently used as a workshop before being converted into residential accomodation in the early 1990's.
