Saron(1874)Welsh Independent / Congregational, Arthur Street, WilliamstownBuilt: 1876 [Sittings: 750]
Saron was a 'Daughter' of Ebenezer, Tonypandy who initially founded a Sunday School in this locale. I know I often repeat myself but the not insignificant distance between Tonypandy and Williamstown soon made it a requirement for a full church here. Saron could boast a quite healthy membership and it was not until the Second World War and general economic conditions that this began to wane. Yet even coming in to the 70s it was quite respectable.
Figures beyond this time are not available although one day, as with other denominations, I might attempt some ferther research in this direction but Saron disappears from denominational records around 1990.
Subsequently demolished with residential accommodation built on its site as 'Cwrt Saron'. As with other such developments there is a genuine attempt to convey the nature of the deifice it replaced. So that carries my full respect.
