10303. Will you be good enough to let me know what is being done to have the returns from the chapels into the Year Book? Are they sent to the secretary who has charge of compiling the statistics for the Year Book? - Of the Welsh they do.

10304. So that in Wales you have no yearly report of the local association or any body of that kind? - I think we have. We have the church report, and if you will mention any year I shall be pleased to give it to you.

10305. I wanted to know whether you had got any local yearly report for the district, or whatever you may call it, under the Association in Wales? - I belive som but I am not quite clear on that myself.

[The Union of Welsh Independents does publish a Year Book or rather a diary, similar in form and shape to the ones published by the Baptists and Calvinistic Methodists. All differ as to the types of information they contain - the Baptist, as illustrated elsewhere is the most complete whereas the Independents contains no statistical information,certainly on a chapel by chapel basis, whatsoever.]

10307. Will you kindly let me know with regard to the accounts and the reports of Bodringallt for 1905 which you have. There is a balance-sheet. Have you with you a record of the return you made?-Have you made a return for 1905? - I made precisely the same as it is in the report.

[Pedantic mode on: Speaking as an ex-accountant, the document is not a 'Balance Sheet' which would normally show the cost or value of any assets alongside the amounts of any liablities (loans etc) plus a fund being the accumulation of any surpluses of income less expenses over the years. Of course, these documents are not prepared by accountants and I expect they were drawn up in this manner for the majority to understand. The proper term for this type of document is a 'Cash Flow Statement'. Pedantic mode off. (I really must get out more)]

10312. The Year Book provides for this. The Year Book gives the total collected excepting for foreign missions and colleges? - I think you are speaking of the English, and I am speaking of the Welsh.

10313. Is the Welsh Year Book published at all? - I think so.

10314. I have Bodringallt before me. The statistics are recorded in the English Handbook. I expect that would be the same in the Welsh? - I do not expect that would be in the same year.

10315. I know that would not be the same year. I am only looking at the headings under which sums of money would be recorded? - I have not seen the books.

10316. May I read them to you as they are recorded in the Year Book and you may recall them? It is the total collected, excepting foreign missions and colleges. That is the first column. Then the next column is foreign missions; the third column is colleges, and the fourth column is debt paid; but I take it that that debt paid has already been included in the first column, because it is not excepted, and the next is the debt remaining? - Yes.

10323. You do not make any suggestions, as I now understand you, to the secretary of the Year Book as to the particular items in this balance-sheet which, in your opinion, ought to be omitted. You leave it to him? - We get the headings; we fill it up according to the headings. Then we send our annual report, so he may divide it up into the different headings if he wishes. I alays send a copy of my printed annual report with my return. I only get certain columns to fill, so I am not supposed to put anything in except only the headings I get......

Do you remember what the headings were? - No, I do not. We fill those headings, and then we send our annual report with the sheet that we send to the Welsh secretary. I am afraid that the difference is between the English and the Welsh secretary. I send my return to the Welsh secretary, and not to the English secretary. I do not know where the English secreatary gets his from.
