Extracts from official Methodist Accommodation Returns

27084. I am not going to trouble you any more with these books at this moment, because you are going to supply the others, and they are going to be checked. Where do you get the sitting accommodation from? You have not got sitting accommodation in your Year Book? - No.

27085. Was that one of the columns I looked at? - In the printed statistics.

27086. Those are prepared ad hoc for the purposes of the Commission; where else can I get them? - We have prepared them for occasional purposes, and not for the purpose of this Commission.

27087. I want to see what book I shall find them in prepared for connexional purposes? - Really in the schedule I sent in as a superintendant. I went throughout my circuit and got the chapels measured.

27088. Can you give me the figures of last year-not the one you sent in, the one someone else sent in the year before? - No, that is not done annually.

27089. How often do you take it? - Once every ten years, possibly.

27092. It is the ordinary course, is it? - Yes, I think so.

27093. A decennial account? - I would not say it is exactly every 10 years, but we do it periodically for connexional purposes, and we take very great care to see it is done properly.

27094. But it is recorded somewhere when it is done? - There would be a record at headquarters undoubtedly, and I will make some inquiries if you wish me to do so.

[The previous record was done in 1901(published in 1902) and then in 1911(published in 1912). With the consent of the Methodist archives I now reproduce the two Rhondda circuits for both years. You will have read that Mr Jones took his figures direct from the Rev. Humphreys' schedules so there will be no surprise to note that these in accord. However, what is surprising are some variances betwen the measures of the Rev. Humphreys and the published statistics in these two years.]
